Ingo Selting, LL.M. (Washington D.C.)

competition, and copyright law.
DOB: 1967, founding partner

Mr. Ingo Selting is a founding partner of the business law firm of Selting+Baldermann. A specialist in trademark, competition and copyright law, he focuses on the various branches of media, as well as on information technology (IT). Thanks to his previous work in international media law firms, he has become expert in the structuring of production and licensing contracts, as well as in the financing of film productions. He also represents clients in the context of cease-and-desist procedures involving copyrights, trademarks, and media law. Ingo Selting was admitted to the Cologne Regional Court in 1997, and to the Cologne Higher Court of Appeals in 2002.

Axel Baldermann

Attorney at law, specialist in labor law.
DOB: 1968, founding partner.

Axel Baldermann is a founding partner of the business law firm of Selting+Baldermann. He specializes in labor law and represents both employers and employees as clients. Having worked at an old-line Cologne law firm and having had a major international bank as a client, he has been able to accumulate extensive business knowledge and skills. Axel Baldermann is licensed to practice before all of the labor courts, regional courts and higher courts of appeal throughout the Federal Republic of Germany.

Jochen Mertens

Jochen Mertens has been a partner of the business law firm of Selting + Baldermann since 2001. An expert in tax law, he specializes in advising the management of mid-sized firms on questions relating to company formation, conversion, purchase, succession and liquidation. Jochen Mertens also develops solutions for company-internal shareholder disputes and liquidation optimization. Mr. Mertens has been admitted to the Cologne District Court and Higher Court of Appeals.

Ulrich Gasper, LL.M. (Edinburgh)

DOB: 1968, associate since April 2006.

Ulrich Gasper joined the law firm of Selting+Baldermann in April 2006. He obtained his Master of Law (LL.M.) degree at the University of Edinburgh and now specializes in IT and internet law. In 1999, Ulrich Gasper joined the editorial board of the IT law magazine “Computer + Recht” (CR), which he has managed since 2003. In 2000, he also became editor of the law journal “Computer Law Review International” (CRi). Thanks to his freelance work at various British and German law firms, Mr. Gasper brings wide-ranging knowledge of many sectors of international business to the table. Ulrich Gasper was admitted to the Cologne District and Regional Courts in 1998.

Volker Winands

Volker Winands has been with the law firm of Selting+Baldermann since July 2006. His specialty is real estate and landlord/tenant law. In 1997, Mr. Winands become managing director of the Homeowners’, Condominium Owners’ and Landowners’ Association of the Greater Leverkusen Region (Haus-, Wohnungs- und Grundeigentümer-Verein Leverkusen und Umgebung e.V.) Besides handling the staffing and business duties for two branch offices (serving about 2,800 members), Volker Winands is responsible for giving legal advice to members in all real estate matters, including pre-trial correspondence in legal disputes. He is also a member of the editorial board of the real estate trade magazine “Haus und Grund”. Volker Winands was admitted to the Cologne District and Regional Courts in 1997.
